PTB (Permission To Board) Some Officers want to memorise the ocean and don't need jobbers as they're not fighting battles. Other officers want to fight the toughest opponents and require the best puzzlers to be on board and job-selectively. To create clarity for an officer:

  • Try to announce in crew chat regularly that you're doing a voyage that doesn't need people to help or specify what you need.,

  • Fill in the officer statement (which you most likely will because you're looking for specific skills).,

As a crewbie:

  • Read the officer statements on the NB to learn about the voyage,

  • For a sloop, ask PTB to board a ship. (Mention the ships name),

Example: Rafaello says, "PTB the Flushed Bream" I ask permission to board the sloop called Flushed Bream. When the officer in command says I can hop on, I hop on. As an officer, I can understand it sucks when people still do hop on your ship. Beware that not all speak English well. Try to explain it to them or ask any SO or me to talk with them. Don't plank crewbies except in extreme situations. Matters can be resolved by talking. Thank you for reading.
